Welcome to Rossnaree

Rossnaree (or 'headland of the kings') is an historic private house in Co. Meath, Ireland - less than an hour from Dublin - offering both a peaceful retreat for guests and an elegant, original venue for special events and artistic workshops.

Rossnaree is a magnificent combination of Victorian and Italianate architecture with earlier parts dating from the 1700s. An impressive driveway sweeps to the front of the house standing on the top of a hill with views of the River Boyne and megalithic sites Knowth, Dowth and Newgrange.

Proprietress and artist, Aisling Law - great granddaughter of Irish revolutionary Maud Gonne - designed the bespoke bedrooms in Rossnaree.

The William Morris vibrant green and gold floral print wallpaper beautifully contrasts with the striking 19c oil-painted family portraits that line the staircase wall. The dramatic African wall hangings and artefacts, collected by Aisling who once lived in East Africa, bring alive another time and place after sleeping in The Bird Room, with its shaker four poster bed and walls hand-painted in Asian Chinese birds and flowers.

"Give an eye for a moment
At the vale o' Rossnaree
Where Boyne waves half reluctant creep
Athwart their Mother sea"
Francis Ledwidge
(Irish Poet, 1887-1917)
